Holy Owly is, above all, the story of a family of two sisters Stéphanie and Julie, both mothers and passionate about education. The idea was born after Stéphanie returned from expatriation, who spent a year in Shanghai with her family. On her return, she wanted to maintain the English level of her children acquired at the French Lycée, but finding no effective solution, they decided with Julie to invent their own method.
So it was in September 2015 that the adventure began. They then opened an English school for children, Kids MBA, which would be their laboratory experiments for three years. Accompanied by linguist researchers and native English teachers, they experimented with the method on 60 children each year. In response to growing demand, the application was downloaded from the Apple and Google stores in March 2017 and the weekly face-to-face sessions with the native coaches were replaced by Skype appointments. This new version incorporates "adaptive learning" to ensure that each child's learning is personalised according to their ability to progress.
The Holy Owly application, which now has more than 200,000 downloads, was recommended by Eta's secretary for digital during the Covid crisis. Since September 2019, the team has been working hard to bring you a brand new version of the application in which children are embarked on a captivating adventure allowing them to take up challenges, discover English-speaking cities and take care of their pet in charge of cleaning up the planet. New languages will soon be available in this application, such as Spanish, French as a foreign language and Chinese.
